LOCATIONS/SOUNDSTAGES

Locations

One of the great assets of Hungary is the easily accessible and inexpensive locations that reflect the country's rich historical past. Hungary has been a crossroads of cultures east and west since its emergence in 896 A.D. Having been occupied by the Turks, administered by the Habsburgs and under German and Soviet rule during the past century, the diversity of architecture is unparalleled in Central Europe.

In regard to the landscape, everything that you might need you will find in Budapest and its surroundings - rivers, hills, flatlands, sand dunes, village settings and post-modern architecture. The country is surrounded by the Karpathian mountain range, a few hours away are the espansive forests and dramatic mountains of Transylvania, Slovakia's Tatras with its numerous castles lies just to the north, and the Adriatic coast a few hours to the south.

Many film makers have recognized Budapest as an ideal substitute for other European and South American cities. Some of the films shot here in the past five years include: Evita, All the Queen's Men, Napoleon, I Spy, Sunshine, Jacob the Liar, Spy Games, Underworld, Den of Lions.
